Did you really think there would be school today?
With Wednesday’s snowfall dropping over 8-inches on roads in Chickasaw County, Northeast Mississippi school districts, businesses and institutions have begun announcing closings for Thursday.
The following school districts will be closed:
* Calhoun County Schools
* Calhoun Academy
* Chickasaw County Schools (Houlka)
* Clay County Schools
*Hebron Christian School
*Houston Schools
* Itawamba County
* Lafayette County
* Lee County
* Monroe County
* New Albany
* Nettleton
* Okolona
* Oxford
* Tupelo
* Union County
Colleges and universities:
* Itawamba Community College. No day or evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo or Belden.
* Northeast Mississippi Community College. Day classes are canceled and administrative offices will be closed. Evening classes will meet at their regularly scheduled times.
* Vaughn Beauty College
Businesses, Industries and Institutions:
* Affordable Furniture (Houlka)
* City of Houston (Curfew at 7:30 p.m. Emergency Personnel Only)
* City of Okolona (Curfew from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Emergency Personnel Only)
* Davis Furniture Industry (Houlka)
* Franklin Corporation (Second and Third Shift Cancelled. Closed Thursday.)
* International Paper Houston (No Second and Third Shift.)
* J Henry Furniture (Okolona)
* MPI (Houston) First Shift Cancelled. Second shift report if possible.
* Seminole Furniture (Okolona)
* Winter Jam scheduled for Thursday night at the Bancorp Arena has been postponed until March 26.
